Wulfeniopsis amherstiana (Benth.) D.Y. Hong
Himalayan Wulfenia
Nepali:
The Wulfenia plant was blooming under ferns along the road in May, and could easily be overlooked. It was growing in a shaded area along the road at 1700m elevation. The small tubular purple flowers grow on a spike from the base of oblong-ovate leaves. I wish I had better photos. It was not common and I saw only a few plants. It is found in Pakistan Northwest India and central Nepal.
Veronicastrum brunonianum (Benth.) D.Y. Hong
No common name
Nepali:
A tall shrub growing below the Army camp at the top of Phulchowki and below at the pond. They flower quickly - starting from the bottom like a snapdragon. They have long slender lanceolate leaves and a tall, 20cm inflorescence with creamy-white flowers. There were only a few plants and I didn't see them at any other locations. It is listed as Calorhabdos brunoniana in the Nepal catalog. It was beginning to bloom in mid-August and continues to September.
