This climbing honeysuckle was growing at a sharp bend in the road at 2100m. It is native to the Himalayas from Nepal to Bhutan, Assam, and Burma. It attracts many butterflies from July to September.

A round solitary white flower at the end of a long stem makes this easy to identify. At the base of the flower are several green bracts. The base of the plant is long elliptic toothed leaves. It attracts many butterflies. It is found from Afghanistan to SW China. The elevation range is from 1400 to 4100m.

Himalayan Honeysuckle or Nutmeg

Himalayan Honeysuckle is a small shrub with flowers at the end of the branch. It forms a soft dark purple fruit. The photo here was taken after the white flowers had fallen with the empty dark bracts. A berry will form inside the bract. It was located near the pond below the Army camp at 2600m. It is seen throughout the Himalayas at elevations ranging from 1700 to 3000m.
