Polygalaceae

Polygala

Polygala arillata Buch.-Ham ex D.Don
Yellow Milkwort
Nepali: Luinche Phool, Marcha, or Ban Ukhu
The Yellow Milkwort grows throughout India, Southern China, and SE Asia. It is a shrub with drooping branches that hang down. At the ends of the branches are bunches of yellow flowers that later become berries with red spots. The berries are used in fermentation to make an alcoholic drink and form into yeast cakes.
