This plant is usually found hanging down over the road from steep inclines above in the forest. It is a shrub with bright yellow flowers that come in a cluster of 2 to 3 at the end of the branch. Flowers from April to September. They are found at elevations ranging from 1500m to 3400m. This plant is difficult to separate from H. choisyanum. Himalayan St. John's Wort
Nepali: Jibre Ghans
The Himalayan St John's Wort is a smaller procumbent type of St. John's wort. Flowers from the end of the stems are bright yellow with smaller ovate leaves. The capsule contains three cells. It flowers from July through September. The plant was growing with a mix of grasses and other plants on the top of a small plateau at 2300m. It is found in the Himalayas from Kashmir to Myanmar.

Himalayan St. John's Wort is an upright herb with a slender stem and opposite cylindrical leaves. The flowers are usually in clusters at the top of the stalk. It is found in the Himalayas from Kashmir to SW China and Myanmar at an elevation ranging from 1500 to 3500m. It was flowering on Phulchowki in September.
